Michael Joseph Safran
Originally from the Great Lakes region, I have lived in the Rocky Mountains for over 20 years currently home in Northern Colorado. I love the wilderness and timeless spirit of the ancient land along with the myriad subtle forms to be found in the unadulterated landscape. The lines and feelings in my artwork develop naturally here. Yet, the geometry of the urban spaces and assimilating varying perspectives are vital to my seeing as well. I'm always learning and seeking new input and experience on this ever unfolding creative journey.
Writing, playing music, seeing, observing, and quiet listening are mutually inclusive in forming my vision. Although there is an underlying method to all my work I’m also open to improvisation. I don't always know what I'm searching for until I'm actually there. Life is always changing, and so are feelings about it. Ultimately my artwork is a practice of attention.
I'm not one to define and label as I am to stay open, grow, adapt and constantly re-invent. Titles are only starting points. My art is about communication that helps transform our reality, shapes unique perspectives, expresses the One, and opens up a greater awareness of the possibilities. It is an integral part of both my own and other’s evolution.
